Something about the tremolo on that Wurlitzer seems to leave off where the banjo begins; the elements here all blend so beautifully, and that simple lick on the harmonica is plenty adequate to carry the pre-chorus.

And then the vocals: in terms of influences there is Ryan Adams, and also Turin Brakes, especially when it comes to the harmony. But beyond that there is also a noted Southern lilt to the vocal performance, and the instrumentation, and when that note on the harmonica brings us home, it feels like an instant Americana classic.

With their new single Love Rescue Me, dressed in the jangly britches of country music, Anxiety Club delivers a longing plea for a little bit of mercy.

Anxiety Club is an alt-country band from Wellington, New Zealand. This song is featured on our Roots collection.
