A little bit cryptic, a little bit in-crowd, and sluggish-sexy like a strip club, on acid, where someone keeps playing the same two chords on a Rhodes piano.

Bryson Briight is a Dream-pop artist from Austin that also plays in Ritual Dagger. He brings a throwback sense of boogie and disco to a modern slacker-vibe that appears at times to be both groovy and self-effacing.

His latest track Foolish is an inviting and slightly mysterious blend of lyrical poise and laid-back rhythm, with a counterpoint between electric guitars and bass that feels like a bit of slowed-down funk. The stylistic, throwaway personality here reminds me of Beck burning his guitar on that breakout video for Loser; there is something artistic and very satisfying about every earnest flavor of I-don't-give-a-fuck. Bryson Briight is making music just the way he likes it - a little bit cryptic, a little bit in-crowd, and sluggish-sexy like a strip club, on acid, where someone keeps playing the same two chords on a Rhodes piano.
