There's something going on here. Just like all of my favorite music there is a message here that flies just under the radar:

“On the train, and I’m feeling like
I wanna do something
I’ll regret when the sun comes up
tomorrow morning”— Chloe Lilac

It's that moment of choice, of stepping in front of the wave.

And then, just generally, "James Dean on a fucking city bike" could be one of the great metaphors for the year, especially as-delivered, which spotlights the man-boy distinction we tend to both obsess over and define inadequately in our modern world of bright-hot spotlights.

This song approximates the throwaway sense of modern determinism as well any out there with smart lyrics and a very artistic sanctity of message; the lyrics fall so naturally from the melody that one is forgiven for missing the theme at first.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Chloe spent her early years traversing the F & G subway lines. This song is featured on our CHILL NEW Songwriters playlist.
