With poetic understatement and some beautiful effects, the vocal here walks the line between poetry and preaching, and borrows a sense of gravity from the power of personal narrative.

What starts out as a confession germinates into a philosophical analysis of existence itself. The harmonies, the falsetto lifts, the atmospheric guitar, all seem to be coming from the same place. It's a symphony of meaning, and the seed is sacrifice:

“I wrestle for your freedom
that you would know the truth
your scars become my scars
the light might shine through”— Speak, Brother

With poetic understatement and some beautiful effects, the vocal here walks the line between poetry and preaching, and borrows a sense of gravity from the power of personal narrative. It's a proud and spacious statement about shared experience and the lessons we learn about ourselves.

Speak, Brother is an Indie Folk band from the UK. This song is currently featured on our CHILL NEW Songwriters playlist.
