The Coronas are a 3-piece band from Dublin, Ireland with the most unfortunate name in the world right now. "Lost in The Thick of It" is the latest single from their new album "True Love Waits" which will be out later this summer, and was written in collaboration with Gabrielle Aplin last summer in Brighton, eventually evolving into a duet. It was recorded at Eastcote Studios in London a few months later, and is the first duet The Coronas have ever released.

They were just about to embark on a 6-month world tour when a certain unfortunately-named virus tried to spoil the party. "Lost in The Thick of It" represents a stronger-than-ever commitment to making great music, regardless of the circumstances. Gabrielle's career began as a teenage internet sensation, posting covers of her favorite songs to YouTube. Since then, she has ridden a whirlwind of success, and built up a fanbase by touring all over the UK and scoring a #2 album with "English Rain." This preview from "True Love Waits" features an innovative music video that was filmed by Gabrielle and The Coronas front-man Danny O’Reilly in isolation, animated by award-winning animator Daniela Sherer in Tel Aviv, and directed by Bjorn Franklin & Johnny Marchetta in London & Manchester: a striking example of creativity in lockdown.

A quartet for 13 years, last summer The Coronas became a trio when guitarist Dave McPhillips unexpectedly left. Briefly they questioned whether to continue but, once the shock had subsided, this group of Dubliners decided instead to find a new direction. "Lost in The Thick of It" explores the difficulty of navigating intense emotions and the fear of disappointment, while addressing everything from a new love in Danny’s life to looking back at past achievements with pride. This stunning folk-pop confessional mixes vulnerability with wistful regret, and finds a sense of beauty at the heart of solitude. In a moment when we all feel a little bit alone, "Lost in The Thick of It" is an anthem for the dream of feeling connected to someone, if only for a moment.

I'm goin' for a little bit
But I, get lost in the thick of it sometimes
I hate to say that I'm wrong
Feels better playing along
Hoping you don't notice it when I'm
Just a bit low-spirited, and I
I've got to face it alone
