Burlington is the indie pop alter ego of London-based Matthew Ellis. "Bad Day," his latest single, explores the anxiety and negative thoughts that can come from being down on yourself.

Living through the year of the virus affects all of us differently. In this case, during lockdown Ellis felt something approaching, an overwhelming feeling which he could only relate to what he had read and learned from others…anxiety. It crept in without warning, and in the next minute were the feelings of emptiness, and lack of purpose. Ellis heard from a friend with a similar experience, who also mentioned having thoughts of suicide, and it became clear that this song came out when it needed to.

"Bad Day" communicates the simple message that anyone can fall victim to a bout of anxiety, no matter how strong of a person they are. This endearing, folk-styled pop groove is here to remind you that you are loved, even at your lowest. With "Bad Day," Burlington explores a sound that exudes generosity, empathy, and acceptance - by normalizing the thought that some days will be good, and some, not so much.
