Leah Capelle puts a finger on the reality of cognitive dissonance in the modern age.

The raw production and songwriting talent of Aimee Mann with the vicious core of Liz Phair come together to put a finger on the reality of cognitive dissonance in the modern age. From those punk-flavored chop strums and the heavy kick drum, I was feeling this one. The lyrics are very deliberate, it's a core message that feels natural, like a universal catharsis.

“I think I’m getting restless
like I want to start again
but I’m just fine-tuning my messes
and that’s no way to live”— Leah Capelle

Who hasn't felt that way, once or a few thousand times?

By stressing the irony of the premise we are all given every day, which is that we should all be trying harder to be other than what we truly are, Leah Capelle gives us an alternative viewpoint. Maybe it's not about the hair, or the shoes.

Try telling that to the kids on Melrose, but we hear ya.

Leah Capelle is originally from Chicago but ended up in Los Angeles. She is a graduate of the Chicago School of Professional Singing, The Musician’s Institute, and Berklee College of Music.
