The universal story of a love that was never meant to last.
Krister Axel - Jul 15, 2019

While the sultriness of her beautiful melody and stripped-down groove might remind you of Maggie Rogers, Lyrah gives voice and substance to a complicated situation, and presents the series of emotional steps that were taken in her erstwhile don’t-call-it-a-relationship as a collective sense of frustration. The message here is simple and direct: maybe we were lucky just to get lucky.

Though Lyrah has been writing for other producers for the last few years, her recent Chemicals EP is the rosy start of her solo path. This reanimation of a successful track from earlier this year underscores her raw talent as a creator, as well as her ability to use a sparse production-style to explore the secondary themes of melancholy and self-incrimination. Lyrah: Down Low (stripped) is the universal story of a love that was never meant to last.

It was good while it lasted
Doesn't mean I was askin' for a long fix
