Mike Schiavo is a native of Woodbridge, New Jersey, and got his start as a blind audition contestant on Season 10 of NBC's The Voice (Team Adam, of course). Since then he has stayed busy writing, building on the success of his audition take on Tove Lo's "Talking Body."
Mike wrote "Blame It on the City" in his childhood bedroom at the end of 2020 in the process of having to quarantine away from the family he had gone to visit. It's an exploration of the lonely, aspirational self-talk that emerges from periods of isolation and self-doubt. His unforgettable croon comes together with electric guitar and a gorgeous arrangement for strings as a love letter to anyone whose struggles with mental health leave them feeling out of place.
