A confessional style of lyricism is mixed with raw emotion and unbridled melancholy.
Krister Axel - Mar 16, 2020

We have written coverage for Zoë before - after teaching herself to play piano, she self-recorded and uploaded some of her tunes to SoundCloud, which quickly launched her career as an original artist. Since then, she has been digging in to the Portland music scene, building a diverse catalog of indie gems around her smooth, buttery lead vocal and an undeniable talent for writing electro-pop hooks.

Zoë’s fourth single "i'm ok" released on all platforms last month. With her new song she continues to write about the emotional realities of life, as she explores a confessional style of lyricism that is mixed with raw emotion and unbridled melancholy. "i'm ok" unpacks the disengagement of an entire generation that has retreated into the warm confines of social media, even as we struggle collectively to find lasting connections, and foster durable romantic associations. Zoë's signature combination of dance-friendly grooves with a brutally honest point-of-view delivers another memorable pop track, at once both modern and illuminating: sometimes the only place to find comfort is in solitude.

Everybody's worried about me
And I wish I could even care
I know that you ask because you love me
All you really want is me there
And I could spend all my money without even going anywhere
I think at this point it's funny
That going out is too hard to bear

This song is featured on our CHILL Angeles playlist.
