Apricot Ink is an alt-pop trio from Australia that formed just last year. Since then they have skyrocketed to the forefront of their local Canberra music scene, while also winning new fans for their groove-heavy electronic pop from all around the world.

After dropping two double singles last year, top track "Carmelyzed Crusade" from "Lucky Rainbow" gave us a delicious taste of their low key mix of pop melody, hip hop beats, and euphoric production chops.

Returning with "Make Believe," this heartfelt gem came together during a writing trip in Northern NSW — where the band spent a lot of time exploring different song ideas as well as soaking up nature. The result is an inviting juxtaposition of natural sounds against that imaginative feeling of wistfulness that comes just before sleep. This mixture of gorgeous vocal harmony, rhythmic guitar hooks, and ethereal imagery teaches us to appreciate the importance of timing and patience.

With a bigger release on the horizon, keep your ears and eyes peeled for more from this inspiring trio.

It’s a natural evolution from our previous singles. It romanticizes the rawness of the real world and the beauty in the simple things that we once took for granted. It’s about relishing the present moment, embracing and accepting yourself and others. We sampled birds and layered it underneath the production and vocals. It brought the track to life and it was a reminder of exactly where we were and how we felt at the time. It was meant to be. It felt right and resonated harmoniously. — WILLO

Apricot Ink sold out their first ever headline show at Sydney’s Mary’s Underground in Nov 2020. This year, Apricot Ink continued to build on their upward trajectory by entering Triple J Unearthed’s DIY Super Group Competition.
