Although there is a certain throwback sensibility to the guitar tone, this song stands as a modern take on something Tom Petty might have written, both because the lead vocal has a similar unassuming quality to it, and because the drums feel like something Steve Ferrone would play. It’s a washed-out guitar lick over a straight groove, with a bunch of reverb on top like melted butter.
For the verse, we are given a fuzzy harmonium sound, and are introduced to the superior lyricism, which uses a sense of honest self-discovery to explore the details of life, and the unique role that time plays in it.
