The perfect soundtrack for picking yourself up and turning life into the experience you want it to be.
Krister Axel - May 23, 2020

Hailing from Southampton via the Highlands and Brighton, well-travelled Cat Marina has emerged from lockdown with fresh and engaging solo material after a feature and co-write earlier this year on BLOWSOM's latest EP with the single "Lost In The City." Cat has featured on the work of other emerging acts like BOA and Suzi Island, and now steps into the foreground with his debut solo single.

In a world of touched-up Instagram selfies and constant hustle, it is easy to feel left behind. As Cat Marina has been perfecting his brand of quirky indie pop - a mix of left-field electronic beats and introspective lyrics - he has grown fond of works by artist-producers like James Blake, Athlete, and Mr Hudson. "Ex Friends + Bad Endings" discusses the difficulty of leaving toxic relationships with friends and loved ones in the past, while representing the personal realization that self-identity is a process, not a prize. With his debut track Cat Marina delivers plenty of pop hooks with an easy groove and a polished aesthetic. "Ex Friends + Bad Endings" is the perfect soundtrack for picking yourself up and turning life into the experience you want it to be.

I've got yet another problem
Knocking on my bedroom door and I get lost
I've been wanting more than a late night drink
Yeah, more than you needed
