A casual and melodic indie-pop experience augmented by a genuine sense of self-discovery.

Defining a space for himself that joins the folk-leaning introspection of Sufjan Stevens with the eclectic ear of Jon Brion, Daggy Man is back in 2019 with a new release entitled I'm Going To Love As Long As I Live. The single Is It Hard To Love Me? tracks the distance between self-criticism and pure acceptance that constitutes taking a hard look at oneself.

With language rich in metaphor, Daggy Man navigates relationships from the past, looking for that spark of revelation and tangible lessons-learned. We are left with a series of inspired and philosophical semantic experiments.

Inside the origami sphere
It remains clear
We’re but freckles on the heel

Flourishing in a washy and imagistic mix of scattered poetry and direct spiritual invocation, the lead vocal is mixed aggressively, furthering the voice-as-mantra investment. The result is a casual and melodic indie-pop experience augmented by a genuine sense of self-discovery.

Australia’s Daggy Man (Thomas Calder) was created as a side project from his primary endeavor, The Trouble With Temptation. Daggy Man expresses darker side of Calder’s songwriting, and explores more personal topics. This song is featured on our CHILL NEW Songwriters playlist.
