From the great Elliott Smith, to Damien Rice, and the Lumineers; there is a long and rich history to this kind of acoustic guitar-driven, deeply personal balladry. Dom Malin runs with the best of them, and has understood his calling to the craft of songwriting from an early age. His pivotal moment came at a school talent show where he performed the Green Day classic "Time of Your Life," and subsequently was inspired to write his first song later that evening. Since then, Malin has continued to build on his undeniable talent while making a name for himself in the indie-folk circuit of his home in Lincolnshire. He has on a number of occasions been the artist of the week for BBC, and is finding support from music blogs around the world.
Latest track "All I Know" was inspired by the line ‘down by the river, she calls to a saint’—in response to a moving conversation with a friend, Dom had a vision of losing someone close to him to the ravages of poor mental health. This emotional song tracks the movements, thoughts, and restlessness of someone who is weighed down with deep sorrow, depicting two distinct points of view: one who is watching, and one who is living it.
Dom is pleased to announce that he will be beginning a tour of Europe in just a few more weeks—starting on the 18th March 2022 in Hamburg, passing through Cologne, and ending in Switzerland (dates listed below). With a strong sense of vulnerability, touching lyrics, and a vocal presence that is nothing short of mesmerizing, Dom Malin is prepared to continue concocting beautiful folk pop with a unique combination of luminous melody, dynamic instrumentation, and poetic storytelling.
