Doottak is an independent singer-songwriter, producer & multi-instrumentalist from South Korea — born in Seoul but currently living in Japan for university. "Star shining on my head" is his first release, and will be followed up with more tracks next month.

I don't have a lot of info about him, but I know that I love this song, and that he's got a bunch of listeners in Buffalo which is not too far from me. Doottak reminds me just a bit of G Love in his early days, with a very distinctive vocal style and a laid-back mix of folk and hip-hop — now with some elements of bedroom pop thrown in for good measure. With "Star shining on my head" Doottak delivers a really solid debut, capturing a sense of laid-back, introspective solitude that feels perfect for the strange age of COVID-related social separation that we find ourselves in. Combining slow beats, acoustic guitar, layered vocal harmonies, and a splash of upright piano, Doottak assembles the perfect backdrop for his dreamer-poet style of lyricism.
