By the end those snare hits feel like jabs and crosses and we've broken down our enemy.

Evan Cline reminds me a bit of my old friend Mike Mahaffey from that Los Angeles band Self. Something about the dry vocals center mix, the buttery electric guitar, and the room-sound drum kit is all about there being calm at the center of the storm.

The sound here is a bit different from the made-on-a-laptop sound of a Gabriel Black; it's a bit more centered on the live feel and that is always all right with me. That guitar fits just like a glove to that drum beat. And by the end those snare hits feel like jabs and crosses and we've broken down our enemy. The transformation is complete.

Evan Cline writes and produces from his home studio in Pennsylvania.
