With an acoustic guitar front-and-center and a breathy vocal that might remind you of Bon Iver, or Blind Pilot, the songwriting here is superb. The coffeeshop-style intro quickly segues into a rich palate of atmospheric flourishes, surprising dynamics, and high band-energy.

The video is a pale watery backdrop that proceeds to end in fire, and absolution. Everywhere, the mark of lyrical exhilaration, mitigated by the recent pain of a breakup. The result is a séance dedicated to the rebirth of self, beginning with the concept of acceptance.

“You towered over the man I’ve been
as I got lost in my shaking hands
all I am is all I know
and every stitch was so poorly sewn ”— Fern Dells
