Her's - Under Wraps

NB: Both members of UK indie band Her's have been killed in a car crash in Arizona, the duo's record label said Friday (March 29, 2019). Stephen Fitzpatrick and Audun Laading were killed along with their tour manager, Trevor Engelbrektson.

They have been called back to heaven.

As I move these records over to the new site, I want these two to be remembered as they are on these bicycles - carefree, loved, and supported by the best tour manager you could ever ask for. I have no words for this tragedy. My heart goes out to their families.

With a melodic hook split between the electric bass, guitar, and glockenspiel, this song immediately oozes confidence. It has a deliciously crisp low-end and some really interesting dynamics of range, and depth. The vocals, and more importantly, melodic sensibility, have just a hint of Rufus Wainwright, and that effortless command of a Broadway-Kerouac hybrid under cover of groove.

Beneath it all, the clean and natural sound of an acoustic drum set shines through, and the warmth of the bass and kick drum are enough to keep you cozy on a winter's night. It's all about that rhythm section.

Her's is an indie-rock band from the UK. This song is featured on our Roots Collection playlist.
