These days in the CHILLFILTR office, we are getting a lot of what I'm starting to call philosophy rock: it's Indie Rock, it's alt-folk, and it has a political and socio-emotional agenda. Plus we get to introduce the world to the concept of acrasia itself, which this song does a good job of doing:
“Acrasia is what we’ve got
you know what you should do
but you can’t make it through”— In Their Thousands
There's that pulsing, laid-back vibe, on a bed of dry groove, with some very simple, almost mantric language. It's an effective meditation on self, and our own role in the madness we call life. Acrasia is simply the concept of working against our own best interests, due to lack of will: welcome to the modern world.
In Their Thousands is an alt-folk band from Ireland. This song is featured on our CHILL NEW Songwriters playlist.
