Indie-rocker Jon Reynolds reinvents himself with the release of Undertow and some help from The Aches. Pretty much all bass line and melody, this catchy single strikes a balance between a riff-y roots-elegance and a touch of modern throwaway-cool. It feels both natural and painstakingly produced.

With a nice use of counterpoint in the bridge vocals, some clavinet, and a really clean and slightly muted electric guitar, Undertow creates a landscape of bright energy and dirty swing. This song feels like an easy way to pick up the mood on a slow day.
