Producers take note: this is what a groove should sound like.
Krister Axel - Jan 6, 2021

With the upright bass pumping out thick vibes right away, "Cutlass Supreme" finds this soulful, DMV-based duo of Kev Brown and J-Scienide getting back to the basics. The production is all tone, talent, and natural intonation, from the jazz-flavored drum pocket to the muscular, thought-provoking lyrical style - with funky cuts by DJ Jon Doe.

“Cutlass Supreme” follows up on the duo's first preview - "Out the Safari" - which features a similar vibe. Scienide’s steady hand as producer, coupled with Kev Brown's endless quest for the perfect rhyme, delivers a quick punch of pure, analog hip-hop sugar. Producers take note: this is what a groove should sound like.

Stray From The Pack is our homage to all the great duos Like EPMD, Das EFX, Hall & Oates, Mobb Deep, and Steely Dan - among others. This album was fun to create because we both have so many styles and different music genres that we like. We kept it raw. — Kev Brown

“Cutlass Supreme” is available now through all major digital retailers and streaming platforms and can be downloaded from iTunes and Amazon Music on pre-order for Stray From the Pack which comes out on Friday. The 12 track LP is also available on vinyl in limited quantities by way of De Rap Winkel Records.
