Shoegaze informing a synth-pop exploration of the unconscious world.
Krister Axel - Mar 29, 2019

Originally formed in Albany, NY, dream-pop band Laveda are exploring the fit between their singer-songwriter roots and the influence of 90’s shoegaze in the style of bands like My Bloody Valentine and The Jesus and Mary Chain. The resurgence of this sound is a big deal right now, and this track fits right into that 16th-note guitar feel and the swirling vocal delivery.

And everywhere, the melancholy of young adulthood. The first surprise is the indifference of the world itself, and the second, the true power of solitude. Happiness does not live outside the grey, but coexists in parallel with it.

I notice in the mornings
I can feel them fading grey

Dream. Sleep., the latest from Laveda, is a wonderful example of shoegaze informing a synth-pop exploration of the unconscious world.

Laveda was formed in the summer of 2017 by Ali Genevich and Jake Brooks. This song is featured on our CHILL Angeles playlist.
