We've written about Olivero and his collaboration with Alain Pérez before. He's back with a follow-up to his lush combination of salsa and flamenco "Juntando Amores" - this time with a melancholic Latin love ballad. "Sin Permiso del Ayer" is an emotional showcase of the musical synergy between Olivero and Pérez as they explore the narrative of a man going through a hard time after a break up. He tries to find new love but soon realizes that no one can replace the connection that he has lost.

Pérez's unforgettable, Grammy-winning vocal presence is the perfect compliment to Olivero's virtuosic guitar performance. With simple elements of acoustic guitar paired with subtle hand percussion, the gorgeous and vibrant tonality of Perez's voice is allowed to shine through. We experienced the highs and lows of romantic adventure through this unique and atmospheric collaboration of two master entertainers at the top of their game. "Sin Permiso del Ayer" is a wonderful example of quality songwriting delivered with a sparse production aesthetic that stays true to the traditions of Latin folk music—released just in time for Valentine's Day.
