It’s an achingly wistful song, and the imagery from the video here does nothing to dispel these shadows of the past. The piano is left to speak through the muted overtones of a few simple chords, and cascades of arpeggio. The faces are both familiar, and strangely archaic, as are the isolated sounds of piano and a masterclass in string arrangement.

The dynamics follow that age-old heuristic of cinema: start slow, build the energy in waves, and after the climax, fall slowly so we don’t forget. It’s a truly mesmerizing experience and a wonderful collaboration between two creative talents.
