Anchorage, Alaska based project Medium Build comes in many forms: sometimes a solo endeavor, sometimes a full band, at its core this indie rock and bedroom pop outfit is a creative outlet for Nick Carpenter and anyone else who has fallen into his orbit over the last five years.

"99 Corolla" treats us with a slinky groove as we explore that time, during a rough winter, when life was feeling pretty much hopeless - and we ended up whipping around in a shitty 99 Corolla, because what else can you do?

Carpenter creates richly layered tracks by weaving raw emotion into his lyrics, as he blends the electronic with the analog and leaves us with the lingering snapshot of a faded relationship. Sometimes, we find inspiration in the unlikeliest of places, as "99 Corolla" wrestles with the rigid dualism of modern life.

Are we winning yet?

I thought ripping donuts
In my 99 corolla
Would empty out the sadness from your head
I made stronger coffee
I kissed on you softly
But nothing seems to wake you from the dead

Jackie, I’m trying
To forget about the things we said
But you’re teaching me new ways to feel so sad
Jackie, I’m crying
I didn’t know that I could hurt so bad
Jackie, I’m lying if I said I didn’t want you back
