“Too Late to End,” by Norwegian artist/producer Coral Head delivers a stripped down, reverb-drenched drum groove that feels so intimate, it's almost confessional. But in a dark and smoldering way. The haze fades into a full orchestra, with just an exquisite combination of thick guitar tones, heavy drums, and many layers of string and woodwind that fuse into an absolute powerhouse arrangement. “Too Late to End” is a kiss from a vampire; a hard-edged tone poem about the way love creeps in like a bite on the neck.

The little part
You don’t need yourself
You give to me
Carefully
And the slightest of fear
Left in me
Is leaking out
Endlessly

Kicking off her musical career by lying about her skills as a bass player to get into a band, Coral Head grew an interest in writing and producing her own music. Influenced by acts like Blonde Redhead, Elliot Smith, Warpaint and Portishead, she wields 'sluggish drums' and deep bass like twin daggers in a fight. Against what, I'm not sure, but this single feels like a work of art: with a rugged, emotional arc and a groove that feels vital.
