Wistful Indie Folk Pop from Vermont. - Couchsleepers: Half the Night

Captures perfectly that intangible moment when the heart feels alone, irrationally, and we crave a familiar voice to tell us we are loved.

Half the Night is the latest single from Couchsleepers, an indie-folk band from Vermont with a flair for warm acoustic tones and shimmering vocal harmony. This dreamy mid-tempo number combines a sense of late-night anxiety with the state of consciousness just before sleep.

The inspiration for "Half the Night" came to songwriter Harrison Hsiang as he was caught under a bramble of string lights, watching the rise and fall of his partner's shoulders as she slept. An insidious feeling formed in the back of his mind as a fear about the uncertainty of romance itself. Sometimes a phrase, a look in the eyes, is enough to trigger a sense of doubt about our own powers of perception. "Half the Night" captures perfectly that intangible moment when the heart feels alone, irrationally, and we crave a familiar voice to tell us we are loved.

What's going on in that head of yours, darling?
Why do I feel like there's something wrong?
