Georgi Krastev - Mountain Mare

We move forward by passing through the pain, not around it.

Georgi Krastev wrote this brooding track while backpacking through Vietnam after a painful break up. "Mountain Mare" goes over like a bit of philosophical introspection, coupled with a mantra-like sense of gravitas. It's all breathy harmony, and hard-won catharsis, laid out like so much laundry in the sun.

Unbreathe
All dressed and bare
A lonesome stare
A mountain mare

I feel a bit of a comparison to Iron and Wine, as well as James Vincent McMorrow. But mostly, it's just a beautiful melody and a feeling that we move forward by passing through the pain, not around it.
