Hamburg-based artist Lemony Rug has an introspective, laid-back style that combines one part clean, organic tones from the acoustic drums and guitar, with one part twangy hooks on the electric, & some clever lyrics thrown over the top. "Uppercut" is the first single and title track of Lemony Rug's upcoming EP, and offers a message of resilience in the face of the kind of circumstances that keep knocking you down.

The production aesthetic here is perfectly on point, with the kind of dry verse mechanics you would expect from someone like Bahamas, and a chorus lift that does not disappoint. If the title track is any indication of the quality of the rest of the project, we can expect more hooks, more clarity, and more precision from this promising German singer-songwriter. Keep an eye out for the "Uppercut" EP later in the year.

Since the release of his second EP "Bigger Frame," Lemony Rug has explored collaborating with indie folk artists Lucy Clearwater from Los Angeles and Jonathan Stephen Simons from Cape Town. Now he's ready to start a new release cycle with the title track of his upcoming solo record.
