Vaporwave Heavyweight Drops New Video. - The New Division: Jealous

The delivery here is all hook, as you might expect from the musical brood of Simple Minds and Tears For Fears.

The New Division has its roots in Southern California at the beginning of the new millennium. In the ensuing decade they continued to create an original take on the elements of New Wave and synth-pop that inspired them, and in doing so, helped usher in a resurgence of those influences.

With a recent string of successful releases, The New Division can now claim at least partial credit for the rise in popularity of vaporwave and synthwave, having created a modern context for those classic elements of pop melody, social disaffection, and a simmering sense of casual-cool. The delivery here is all hook, as you might expect from the musical brood of Simple Minds and Tears For Fears. Jealous, from their new EP Fader, is a mid-tempo pop burner that does not disappoint.

The New Division is the alias of Los Angeles based electronic musician/producer John Glenn Kunkel. This song is featured on our CHILL Angeles playlist.
