I think my favorite detail about this song is just how natural that generational flow feels, like it all comes down eventually to the newest generation, and what it takes to meet that moment. There is always a need for separation, but the nostalgia is also real, and it's that push and pull, ebb and flow, that really dictates the course and tempo of ones years. In youth, the most important virtue is to be bold. This is such a story.
Of course it is told with an electric guitar, and a narrative that feels pretty close to home. Sometimes, moving on is the best feeling in the world.
I don't know much about my family anymore
It's been seven years and several tears I left behind my door
As a kid I knew my cousin's interests and going ons
Now a border in the family is drawn
