Take a splash of Humble Pie, a spoonful of Janis Joplin, throw in the diverse talents of a seasoned band, and the songs just write themselves.

Hailing from Toronto, Propter Hawk is a rock and roll outfit that was formed in 2020. Based on the timeless sound of punchy electric guitar riffs and an aggressive vocal presence, the pedigree of this fantastic Canadian band can be traced all the way back from homegrown staple Zeus to cultural icons like The Guess Who. Lead by the captivating vocals of Malorie Blake, the sound of Propter Hawk demonstrates clearly that it is never too late to reinvent the classics. Take a splash of Humble Pie, a spoonful of Janis Joplin, throw in the diverse talents of a seasoned band, and the songs just write themselves.

Propter Hawk was formed 'through the broken shards of former bands and shady, desperate classified ads.' Resurfacing after the pandemic with a deluge of material, they put down their finely-tuned tracks at Pineship Sound in Toronto with Carlin Nicholson and Mike O’Brien. The result is a fiery celebration of both past and present, with enduring music that is full of energy, musicality, and rugged independence. Named after a latin phrase that means simply "for this," Propter Hawk is here to remind us all to live in the moment. Just grab a few friends and turn it up: "Telephone" is the soundtrack to a distorted new era of rock and roll for the Toronto rock scene and beyond.

Check out Propter Hawk this Thursday at Junction City Underground (9pm).

Come on home
I'm sitting here
Telephone
Call when you're near
And I'm cold
Staring down the tightrope
I've been waiting by your door
