REST ACRES is the solo musical project of Toronto-based drummer, producer, and songwriter Joel Cassady, who is best known for his work as a member of Canadian alt-pop mainstay Walk Off the Earth - a group that he's been a part of for nearly 10 years. "On My Mind" is only his second single as REST ACRES, and features the vocals and co-writing of fellow Canadian Kate Carswell, known professionally as Freida Mari.

"On My Mind" is built around a moment of vulnerability in a complicated relationship, something many of us can relate to. Sometimes the force of habit, and a desperate need for comfort, edges out our own conscience when it comes to matters of the heart. Even a destructive relationship can feel like a blessing, and we find ourselves perpetuating the very thing that slowly destroys us. Cassady explores this powerful sense of cognitive dissonance, and serves up an illuminating dose of electro-pop that feels both cathartic and self-evident. Drawing inspiration from modern electronic luminaries like Flume, ODESZA, Louis the Child, Big Wild, and Jai Wolf, REST ACRES extends a sonic aesthetic based on catchy melodies, musical hooks, and acute introspection. "On My Mind" puts us front-and-center in the emotional confrontation between our weaker self and the part of us that knows better than to settle for less than we deserve.

You come and go like the wind blows
I give it all and you waste my time
And, yeah, I know how all this shit goes
But it’s late and you’re on my mind
Now I wonder where we went wrong
I should have known not to cross that line
And I know it’s never simple
But it’s late and you’re on my mind
