This kind of lead vocal sounds like your cool friend waxing poetic after a long night. There's a bit of platitude and recollection, honest advice, and the posing of rhetorical questions; a fair amount of melodious joy can be collected from the spaces in-between. And isn't that the point.

The sound here is gorgeous, and thick, layering cold synthesizers and an echoed bass, with a beat that stomps on the line between synth-pop and Americana. This is clearly a songwriting team to look out for.
