We've written about The Bergamot before (here and here). They are an American indie rock band that consists of co-lead vocalists Nathaniel Paul Hoff and Jillian Speece. The duo met in South Bend, IN at Marian High School, and were soon catapulted to success when their single P.D.R. was discovered by Matt Wiggins (and re-released on the EP "Mayflies.")

In early 2020, after traveling to London to record with Wiggins, The Bergamot was invited to open for pop powerhouse OneRepublic. When COVID hit, every tour date was lost. As a reaction to this massive shift in their situation, the band decided to focus their energy on finishing feature length documentary "State of the Unity" and new album "Far Out."

"State of the Unity" scored instant critical acclaim. The film and band won the prestigious "Marion Herrman Excellence in Filmmaking Award" at the Sedona International Film Festival and “Best Documentary” by the Art Film Awards as well as being an Official Selection at the Richmond International Film Festival, Paris Independent Film Festival, and Atlanta Docufest.

"Breakdown" is a story of personal resilience that unfolds slowly, with a lush production aesthetic and a message of spiritual presence. The music video, produced by Nathaniel Hoff, explores the sense of solitude and raw strength that is only found in desolate places. Both introspective and hopeful, this beautiful song asks much the same question that their award winning documentary explores: is rebirth possible? Or alternatively, are we destined for a dark and barren future?

The answer lies within.

I try to get up
But I just keep falling down
So I close my eyes until it gets dark out
I cried out to the stars a million miles away
I said 'can you hear me now?'
Laying on the ground

Later this year the duo will release their new album Far Out, which was mixed by Matt Wiggins.
