Although something about that blithe and raspy baritone will give you hints of Ritchie Havens, lyrically there is a distinct presence that elevates this from a folk replay to a moment of clarity. This sound will get under your skin.
Purpose-built to be, and mixed as, a dirty window on humanity, the stripped-down folk-band backing does nothing to hinder the raw fullness of the acoustic guitar, and the vocal is left as it was meant to be: out in front. Telling it straight:
