We've written about Joe Kaplow before. With his band he tracked this song live in a tiny house somewhere in Marin county, and it offers a wonderful example of why his music is great. The lyrics are distinct and thought-provoking, the performances are all organic and inspired, and there is a beautiful sense of dynamics that ties it all together. After more than 20 years of making music for a living, this California-based songwriter is finally connecting with the audience that he deserves.

With an easy-going sound and a talent for smart lyrics that might remind you of Jack Symes or Jeffrey Martin, "Tunnel Vision" presents Joe Kaplow in all his rootsy, west-coast glory: acoustic strumming, electric slide guitar, buttery bass, a light 2-piece drum kit, and all the vibe you could ask for. Sometimes a sparse production is all you need to get the message across, and this indie folk gem is a masterpiece of understatement. Kaplow is sharing a preview from the new album coming out later in the year: if this song is any indication, it's going to be a sizzler.
