A stirring mix of heavy bass drum, open flirtation, and the celebration of sexual mystery.
Krister Axel - Dec 10, 2019

Australian producer and singer-songwriter Harry Nathan is back this week with a slow-burning house treat called ‘Sweet Release,’ which harks back to Harry's youth as an up-and-coming DJ with eclectic musical tastes. This first track from his new lo-fi house project explores a difficult relationship as a metaphor for experiencing psychedelics.

This fluid connection between soulful lyricism and a deep house influence in the instrumentation is no accident. Harry always loved house music growing up, and has always been a fan of soul and disco. This turn to his roots matches a colorful soundscape with restrained keys, and takes influence from the likes of Disclosure and Hayden James with the use of a brooding synth-bass, electronically-altered vocals, and a sense for sparse and eclectic percussion. 'Sweet Release' is a stirring mix of heavy bass drum, open flirtation, and the celebration of sexual mystery.

This song is featured on our Groovy Summer playlist.
