With the rollout of new AI-driven products seemingly on a weekly basis, developers are enticed by low or no cost implementations that promise higher productivity and a streamlined workflow. But the problem that quickly emerges is that none of these systems were designed to create the kind of mix-and-match architecture that can lead to high value integrations for a given project, without serious tradeoffs with regard to security and permissions.

Developers often find that production deployments require a level of granular security that is near impossible to implement. How do we handle judgment-heavy processes that require integration across systems that were never meant to talk to each other? Today, I want to talk a little bit about Arcade.dev, and how they are creating a platform that integrates easily with the cloud products you use every day: things like Slack, Dropbox, Gmail, Google Drive, Salesforce, Twilio, and many others. What's the elevator pitch? Single Sign On for AI Agents. Let's see how they got there.

Arcade.dev started out with a simple mission, which was to create an AI agent that would be able to diagnose and address server issues and error messages from a cloud-based production stack. After realizing that the technology, the design patterns, and existing products were not enough to support that vision, they pivoted towards the design of a brand new tooling layer for AI. Arcade.dev offers a new way for large language models to securely connect to services in the cloud, and in doing so provides an unprecedented level of speed, accuracy, and connectivity for an AI agent that isn't meant to lock you into a certain ecosystem.

Now, instead of giving your AI agents unfettered admin access, smart permissions and auth management are within reach and can be managed separately for each cloud service. Arcade.dev has solved the boring problem of letting AI act safely on behalf of specific users. Build your own apps for more complicated use cases, or leverage existing apps to jumpstart your development process.

Archer is an AI Agent built with the LangGraph framework that lives in your Slack workspace, and can access cloud services like GitHub, Gmail, and Google calendar by default. This lightweight agent can be hosted from your GitHub repo with just a few clicks, and can be extended with a few edits to the defaults.py file to use any available toolkit.

Currently with 96 existing connectors, and many more in the pipeline, Arcade.dev offers unparalleled access to well tested and production-ready product integrations. If you are looking for an AI Tooling Layer that supports sandbox development, evaluations, agent frameworks like LangChain, CrewAI, Mastra, and Google ADK, and can easily connect to the cloud services you use every day, then Arcade.dev deserves a long look.
